About this tool
Compression happens entirely on your device using the browser's canvas encoder (canvas.toBlob) — files are read locally, re-encoded at your chosen quality, and offered back as downloads. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or sent to any server, so it's safe for private photos and unreleased design assets.
WebP usually gives the smallest files at equal visual quality. The quality slider applies to WebP and JPEG; PNG is lossless, so its size only changes through resizing. Note that re-encoding strips EXIF metadata (location, camera info) — often a bonus for privacy.
